Awarded the Mahapola Higher Education Scholarship – 1992 by the Mahapola Higher Education Trust Fund.
Awarded the Vice Chancellor's Award -1999 in appreciation and recognition of the honor brought to the University of Kelaniya.
State Literary Award for the Best Translation of the year -2000, Sirakariya-Translations of Hindi Short Stories.
Extra Curriculum Activities
Organized the First Hindi Seminar in Sri Lanka, at the University of Kelaniya in collaboration with the High Commission of India, Colombo in 1998 to mark the Golden Jubilee of Independence of Sri Lanka and the 40th anniversary of the University of Kelaniya.
Organized the Hindi film Festival, from 22nd – 26th March 1999 presented by the Hindi Parishad and the Department of Hindi, University of Kelaniya in collaboration with the High Commission of India and the Indian Cultural Center, Colombo.
Organized the Hindi Film Festival, from 10th-14th November 2008 presented by the Hindi Parishad and the Department of Hindi, University of Kelaniya in collaboration with the High Commission of India and the Indian Cultural Centre, Colombo.
Organized Jhankar - a student's wall Magazine for the purpose of enhancing the writing skills of the beginners of the Department of Hindi.
Organized the Hindi Day and Dr. Ramkumar Varma Commemoration, 08th November 2004, Department of Hindi, University of Kelaniya.
Organized the Hndi Day Celebration at the Indian Cultural Centre, Colombo, 11th September, 2008.
