Dr. W.A. Gamini Wijayasinghe was born in 1971 in Nawaneliya, Kandy District in Central province. He entered The University of Kelaniya in 1994 for his higher Education and selected Buddhist Culture as the major subject, as well as Sanskrit as the subsidiary subject for his special degree (B.A. Honors). He completed his first degree with first class in 1988. Apart from this, he has passed the Prāchīna Pandit degree in 1993. As soon as his graduation, he completed M.A. degree in Pāli Language and Literature in Buddhist & Pāli University of Sri Lanka. After that he completed his Post graduate Diploma course in Education from University of Colombo in 1999.Similarly, he followed an MPhil degree in Buddhist Culture from the University of Kelaniya & completed it with merit pass. Dr. Gamini Wijesinghe was awarded the doctoral degree from Post Graduate Institution of Pāli & Buddhist (University of Kelaniya) in 2013. Caption of his PhD thesis is "An Analytical Study of the Contribution of art and craft in transmission of Buddhist Cultural concepts towards in Sri Lankan society". He was selected as a temporary Assistant Lecturer of the Department of Pāli & Buddhist Studies of the University of Kelaniya and worked there from 2000 to 2012.Similarly, he had served the same department as a visiting lecturer and later selected as a Senior Lecturer Grade II in Buddhist Culture at University of Kelaniya.
