Students studying Russian language from the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd years of the Department of Modern Languages at the University of Kelaniya are currently participating in the international educational project “Learning the Great,” which is being held in Moscow, Russia. The programme is organized by the My History Foundation together with Chuvash State Pedagogical University, with the support of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation.
A group of 20 students joined this special programme aimed at improving Russian language proficiency while gaining deeper exposure to Russian culture and literature. Alongside intensive language training, the students have been experiencing a rich cultural programme, including visits to major landmarks in Moscow such as Red Square and the Kremlin.
The academic sessions are conducted by lecturers from Chuvash State Pedagogical University, focusing on developing students’ communication skills and confidence in using the Russian language in real-life situations.
An important cultural component of the programme is dedicated to the works of the renowned Russian writer Mikhail Bulgakov. Students have visited the writer’s museum apartment in Moscow and attended a theatrical performance based on his famous work ‘Heart of a Dog’.
As the programme continues, the University of Kelaniya sincerely appreciates the support and hospitality extended by Chuvash State Pedagogical University and the My History Foundation for providing this valuable educational and cultural opportunity for our students.
