Certificate Course on Engaging a New Generation for Accessible Governance and Elections (ENGAGE), a political leadership extracurricular course for students with disabilities, is conducted by the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) and USAID in collaboration with the Inclusivity Centre, Faculty of Humanities from 2024.01.22 to 2024.02.06 at the Inclusivity Centre.
Twenty-one students with disabilities from the University of Kelaniya are participating in the course. The course consists of eight modules focused on enhancing the knowledge of democratic participation and local political and electoral systems, encouraging peer-to-peer learning, developing critical leadership skills and building self-confidence. In addition, the course comprises two site visits to offer practical, on-site knowledge. The participants joined the first site visit to the Election Commission of Sri Lanka on the 31st of January, 2024.
