Aimed at supporting students affected by the recent floods caused by the cyclonic storm ‘Ditwah’, Henarathgoda Keppetipola Vidyalaya in Gampaha, Colombo District, was visited on 23rd December 2025 at 12.00 p.m. as part of Phase 1 of the Flood Relief Project. The primary objective of this project was to donate essential school supplies to students whose educational activities had been disrupted by the flooding, thereby helping to reduce the learning difficulties they faced.
The project was conducted by the Teaching English as a Second Language Students’ Association (TESLSA) along with Ms. Nipuni, the Senior Treasurer of TESLSA, Ms. Shezmin, and Mr. Muthugala. The student representatives involved were the President, Teslier Hansana Thumpalage, Secretary, Teslier Himashi Wimalarathne, Vice President, Teslier Alyssa Ismath, and student volunteer, Teslier Pabodha Deshanjalee. Their collective effort ensured the smooth coordination of the donation process with the guidance of the Head of the Department, Ms. Gevani Prahlathan, reflecting community support during a period of crisis.
The donation of school supplies under Phase 1 of the Flood Relief Project had a very positive impact on the school community. By providing essential educational materials, the project helped meet the needs of students affected by the flood situation, making it easier for them to return to their studies and continue their learning in a comfortable and supportive environment.
