Support Earthquake Victims in Myanmar

The Department of Pali and Buddhist Studies of the University of Kelaniya organized a significant donation initiative to support the people of Myanmar who were recently displaced by a devastating earthquake. Through the collective efforts of academic, non-academic staff and students, the donations were raised and officially handed over to Her Excellency Marlar Than Htaik, Ambassador of Myanmar.
The funds were donated during a formal ceremony attended by Her Excellency Marlar Than Htaik. The event was graced by the Head of the Department, Senior Professor Ven. Makuruppe Dhammananda Thero, Senior Professor Ven. Naotunne Wimalagnana Thero, Professor Rajitha Pushpakumara, Senior Lecturer Ven. Dodamkumbure Dhammadassi Thero, Dr. Gamini Wijesinghe, Dr. Amila Kaluwarachchi, along with many other distinguished members of the academic staff.
This humanitarian initiative reflects the Department's deep commitment to global solidarity and compassion, values that are deeply rooted in the teachings of Buddhism. The Department of Pali and Buddhist Studies remains dedicated not only to academic excellence but also to fostering a spirit of kindness and social responsibility among its community.
