The Department of Pali and Buddhist Studies at the University of Kelaniya proudly announces the successful completion of its 2024 scholarship program, generously sponsored by the Glorious Sun Charity Foundation. This marks the 12th round Scholarship Awarding, providing substantial financial support to 352 deserving students.

The Department of Pali and Buddhist Studies at the University of Kelaniya proudly announces the successful completion of its 2024 scholarship program, generously sponsored by the Glorious Sun Charity Foundation. This marks the 12th round Scholarship Awarding, providing substantial financial support to 352 deserving students.
A delegations from China

A delegation of over 50 with the chief incumbent of Hualing and Lingjiu temples in China, under the coordination of foreign nuns studying at the Department of Pali and Buddhist Studies of the University of Kelaniya, visited the Department of Pali and Buddhist Studies of the University of Kelaniya on 06.12.2024.
During the discussion, the main attention was paid to the opportunities for foreigners in Buddhist studies. Furthermore, ideas were also expressed about China-Sri Lanka Buddhist relations. Afterward, they also visited the university library.

The event was graced by Senior Professor Makuruppe Dhammananda Thera, Head of the Department of Pali and Buddhist studies, Chair Professor Nabirittankadawara Gnanaratana Thera, Registrar K. K. K. Dharmathilake and other esteemed members of the academic staff.

The inaugural lecture of the *PARIYESANĀ* academic lecture series, organized by the Department of Pali and Buddhist Studies at the University of Kelaniya, was delivered by Mr. Upul Jayantha Ranepura, Senior Lecturer and Head of the Department of Drama, Cinema, and Television at the University of Kelaniya. The event drew a large audience, including faculty members and students, who actively engaged in the insightful session.
