Welcome to the Department of Drama, Cinema, and Television!
Established on April 3rd, 2023, our department was previously a unit under the Department of Fine Arts, known as the Drama and Theater and Image Arts Unit. We offer three main subjects: Drama and Theater, Image Arts, and Film and Television, all of which incorporate both theory and practical components. For Drama and Theater and Image Arts, we provide Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree programs, as well as BA Honours degree programs. The BA degree is a three-year program, while the BA Honours degree extends to four years. Additionally, we offer a one-year Master of Arts (MA) degree program in Drama and Theater. In addition to degree programs, we also offer four one-year diploma programs. These include the Diploma in Photography, Diploma in Film and Television, Diploma in Drama and Theater, and Diploma in Script Writing.

TEACHING AND LEARNING WORKSHOP - 2024
The University of Kelaniya's Department of Drama, Cinema, and Television organized a dynamic Teaching and Learning Workshop on January 7, 2024, from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm. The workshop aimed to foster collaboration among permanent and temporary faculty members, along with visiting lecturers, providing a platform for sharing innovative teaching methodologies and discussing advancements in arts and media education. The agenda included interactive sessions, panel discussions, and hands-on activities, focusing on pedagogy, curriculum development, and industry trends.
