Ven. Naotunne Wimalagnana
Ven. Naotunne Wimalagnana was born in 1964 in Naotunna, Matara District and he obtained his primary education from Naotunna Primory School and secondary education from Sirimangala Pirivena and Sri Sudassi Pirivena at Matara. For the higher education, he entered the University of Kelaniya in 1985 and obtained the Degree having followed Buddhist Philosophy as his major subject of special Degree programme while taking Western Philosophy as a subsidiary subject. After obtaining B.A. Degree with First Class in 1991, he followed Master of Arts (M.A.) Degree programme at the Post Graduate Institute of Pali & Buddhist Studies, University of Kelaniya and completed it in 1993. Then, he was appointed as temporary assistant lecturer in the Department of Pali & Buddhist Studies, University of Kelaniya, in 1996 and then he was elevated to the post of probationary lecturer in 2003. Further, he followed Post graduate Diploma in Education at the Faculty of Education, University of Colombo and completed it in 2004. Then He followed M.Sc. Degree programme in the Department of Philosophy, University of Kelaniya, and completed it in 2005. Later, he entered to the Wuhan University in China in order to study Chinese language and research Buddhist Cannon of Chinese Buddhism in 2005. For the Ph.D., Degree he entered to the University of Keleniya in 2009. The Doctor of Philosophy Degree was conferred by the university for his Doctoral Thesis produced under the topic of "A Comparative Study between Pali Majjhima Nikaya and the Chinese Maddhyama Agama”. At present, He serves as a Professor in the Department of Pali & Buddhist Studies, University of Kelaniya, and visiting lecturer in several other educational institutions of Sri Lanka. Ven Naotunne Wimalagnana has published more than six books and a number of informative wrathful articles in journals related to the Buddhist Studies taking medium both Sinhala and English.
