The Department of Pali and Buddhist Studies of the University of Kelaniya has successfully completed the 3rd Step of the Students’ Welfare Program 2024, generously sponsored by the Glorious Sun Charity Foundation. The event was held on the 28th of July 2024 at the Department of Pali and Buddhist Studies, University of Kelaniya.
This scholarship program aimed to alleviate financial burdens and encourage academic excellence in the field of Pali and Buddhist studies, marking the third significant initiative for the year, providing substantial financial support to 352 deserving undergraduates. Accordingly, each undergraduate was awarded with 22,500 LKR.
The Inaugural Ceremony was graced by the participation of the distinguished guests, Dr. Sudath Senarath, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities; Senior Professor Most Ven. Makuruppe Dhammananda Thero, Head of the Department of Pali and Buddhist Studies; Chair Senior Professor Most Ven. Nabirittankadarawa Gnanaratana Thero; Mr. K. K. K. Dharmathilaka, Registrar of the University of Kelaniya; and other esteemed members of the academic staff.
