The 148th General Convocation of the University of Kelaniya was held ceremoniously on the 27th of January 2025 at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH), Colombo.
The convocation ceremony consisted of 03 sessions. During the 1st session, 498 graduands of the Bachelor of Arts Honours Degree, offered by the Faculty of Social Sciences were conferred.
At this session, Ms. Hettithanthrige Nimali Anuradha Kumari was awarded the Venerable Ratmalane Sri Dharmarama Thero Memorial Gold Medal, offered by the Alumni Association of the University of Kelaniya, for obtaining the highest marks for the B.A. Honours degree examination of the Faculty of Social Sciences; the Gold Medal offered by the Bank of Ceylon, for obtaining the first class and the highest marks in the Faculty of Social Sciences; the Gold Medal offered by the Professor Emeritus Mangala Ilangasinghe Memorial Foundation, for obtaining the first class and the highest marks in B.A. Honours in History; and the Gold Medal offered by the Faculty of Social Sciences for obtaining the highest marks in B.A. Honours in History. Ms. Lakmana Arachchige Nethmi Vinodya Ranahansi was awarded the Professor Piyadasa Ranasinghe Gold Medal, offered by the Department of Library and Information Science, and the Gold Medal offered by the Faculty of Social Sciences, for obtaining the highest marks for the B.A. Honours degree in Library and Information Science. Merinnage Janani Uthpala Merinnage was awarded the Professor Emeritus Senaka Bandaranayaka Memorial Gold Medal, offered by the Department of Archaeology, for obtaining the highest marks for the BA Honours degree in Archaeology, and the Gold Medal offered by the Faculty of Social Sciences for obtaining the highest marks in B.A. Honours in Archaeology. Ms. Kolamunna Galganage Prarthana Savindi Thelis was awarded the Professor Shelton Gunaratne Memorial Gold Medal, offered by the Department of Mass Communication, and the Gold Medal offered by the Faculty of Social Sciences, for obtaining the highest marks in B.A. Honours in Public Relations and Media Management. Ms. Chandradhipathiyalage Nipuni Bhagya was awarded the Professor Shelton Gunaratne Memorial Gold Medal, offered by the Department of Mass Communication, and the Gold Medal offered by the Faculty of Social Sciences, for obtaining the highest marks in B.A. Honours in Mass Communication. Mr. Chiranga Sandeepa Bangamuwage was awarded the Professor M. P. Perera Memorial Gold Medal, offered by Rajamanthri Foundation, for obtaining the highest marks in B.A. Honours in Geography. Ms. Hewa Koparage Sonali Navodya was awarded the Professor Sumanapala Galmangoda Memorial Gold Medal, offered by the Faculty of Social Sciences, for obtaining the highest marks in B.A. Honours in Computer Science. Ms. Ihalagamage Vibodha Jayarathne was awarded the Gold Medal, offered by the Faculty of Social Sciences, for obtaining the highest marks in B.A. Honours in Tourism and Cultural Resource Management. Ms. Dissanayake Mudiyanselage Sulochana Jeewamali was awarded the Gold Medal, offered by the Faculty of Social Sciences, for obtaining the highest marks in B.A. Honours in Development Studies. Ms. Benthara Mallawa Arachchige Thilini Anupama was awarded the Gold Medal, offered by the Faculty of Social Sciences, for obtaining the highest marks in B.A. Honours in Psychology. Henegama Liyanage Kalani Nimesha was awarded the Gold Medal, offered by the Faculty of Social Sciences, for obtaining the highest marks in B.A. Honours in Sociology.
During the 2nd session, 172 graduands of the Bachelor of Arts Honours Degree, 30 graduands of the Bachelor of Arts Honours Degree in Peace and Conflict Resolution, and 84 graduands of the Bachelor of Arts Degree, offered by the Faculty of Humanities, and 23 graduands of the Bachelor of Arts Honours Degree in Translation Studies, 44 graduands of the Bachelor of Arts Honours Degree in Flim and Television Studies, 133 graduands of the Bachelor of Arts Degree, and 1 graduand of the Bachelor of Arts (General) Degree, offered by the Faculty of Humanities, were conferred.
At this session, Ms. Siththi Michella Gunawijaya was awarded the Professor F.R. Jayasooriya Memorial Foundation Gold Medal, offered by the Department of Economics, for obtaining the First Class (Honours) and the highest marks in B.A. Honours in Economics; the Professor K. Dharmasena Gold Medal, offered by the Department of Economics, for obtaining the First Class (Honours) and the highest marks in B.A. Honours in Economics; and the Gold Medal, offered by the Faculty of Social Sciences, for obtaining the highest marks in B.A. Honours in Economics. Mr. Yakandawala Liyana Mudiyanselage Isuru Udakara Yakandawala was awarded the Gold Medal, offered by Professor Emeritus N. K. Dangalle Foundation for the most outstanding undergraduate of the year in B.A. Honours Degree in Development Studies. Mr. Herath Mudalipathige Oshan Najeera Piumantha was awarded the Dr. D.B. Nihalsinghe Memorial Gold Medal, offered by the Faculty of Humanities, for the most outstanding performance in Film and Television Studies. Ms. Rajasinghe Herath Mudiyanselage Kavindi Prathibha Rajasinghe was awarded the Professor D.M. Wickramasinghe Gold Medal, offered by the Faculty of Humanities, for the most outstanding performance in Translation Studies. Ms. Yasadi Sathyanga Siriwardana was awarded the Gold Medal, offered by the Faculty of Social Sciences, for obtaining the highest marks in B.A. Honours in Peace and Conflict Resolution. Ms. Weerahennedige Tharushi Dinethra Weerasinghe was awarded the Gold Medal, offered by the Faculty of Social Sciences, for obtaining the highest marks in Social Statistics.
During the 3rd session, 358 graduands of the Bachelor of Arts Honours Degree, offered by the Faculty of Humanities were conferred.
At this session, Ven. Meetiyagoda Buddhananda Thero was awarded the Venerable Kotahene Pragna Keerthi Thero Memorial Gold Medal, offered by the Alumni Association of the University of Kelaniya, for obtaining the highest marks for the B.A. Honours degree examination of the Faculty of Humanities, and the Professor M.
